Take Three Girls (2019)

Take Three Girls is a drama series on BBC1 which ran between 1969 and 1971 about the lives of three girls sharing a flat in 'Swinging' London. The programme is notable as being BBC1's first colour drama series. The characters - cello-playing Victoria, single mother Kate and Cockney art student Avril - were played by Liza Goddard, Susan Jameson and Angela Down. For the second series, the characters of Kate and Avril were replaced by journalist Jenny and American psychology graduate Lulie. Two series of Take Three Girls were shown on BBC1 between 1969 and 1971. Only 10 episodes out of the original run of 24 are believed to still exist. A four-episode series - Take Three Women, showing the original characters at a later stage in their lives - was shown on BBC2 in 1982. Victoria was now a widow with a young daughter and Avril an art gallery owner while Kate was sharing her life with her son and his teacher. The theme music to Take Three Girls - 'Light Flight' by the British folk rock group Pentangle - was a British chart hit in February 1970. Pentangle also contributed music to Take Three Women.
